Mother's Day is May 10th. That's this Sunday.
If you haven't made a plan yet β that's okay. We have one for you: come to Penny Oven, come early, and let us make the morning feel like something.
We open at 7:00am every day of the week, which means you can actually be back home before brunch crowds hit everywhere else. Or stay a while. Bring the kids. Order the Dutch Baby while it's still got that puffed golden edge. Get a second coffee. It's the weekend β slow down.
What to Order With Mom
If you haven't been in lately, here's a quick rundown of what's been making people happy at the counter:
The Sticky Bun. We make these from scratch every single morning β laminated dough, brown butter, a glaze that's assertively sweet in the best way. They sell out. Come early.
Shakshuka. A full cast-iron skillet of tomatoes and spiced peppers with eggs poached right in. It's warming, it's filling, and it feels like someone made it especially for you β because we kind of did.
Steak Benny. Seared steak, house hollandaise, sourdough English muffin. If your mom is the kind of person who appreciates a proper breakfast, this is the move.
Dutch Baby. The show-stopper. It arrives at the table puffed and dramatic and then deflates while you decide where to start. Order it with seasonal fruit. You will not regret it.
Hemp Cacao Iced Coffee. Our signature iced coffee, made with hemp milk and cacao. It sounds unusual. It tastes like exactly what Sunday morning should be.
A Note on the Morning
We don't take reservations β it's first come, first served β so Mother's Day weekends do get busy. Our best advice: aim for 7:00β9:00am for the smoothest experience. By 10:00am things pick up considerably, and the sticky buns will be gone.
Everything on our menu is made in-house daily by a team that genuinely cares about the food. The sourdough, the pastries, the sauces β it's all here, made this morning, by people who love what they do.
We'd love to be part of her morning.
